• On the Mac, the reload spinner and checkmark now sit beside the other toolbar buttons instead of in a cramped capsule in the middle of the title bar.

A release about journals written by hand: more of what ledger and hledger accept now opens, and an edit saved from your editor shows up on its own.

• Journals with virtual postings, written (Account) or [Account], now open, and Balance keeps a posting virtual through edits, renames, recurring templates and exports.
• Journals with a dated note, or an entry with a single posting, now open, and those entries show correctly in the transaction list.
• When two devices each add a note on the same day, syncing now keeps both instead of setting one device's version aside as a conflict copy.
• A currency or commodity pasted with a line break in it, in a transaction or a recurring template, is now saved on one line instead of leaving a journal that would not open.
• When a journal can't be opened, Balance now tries again by itself as soon as you save a fix from your editor.
• Edits saved from Emacs, Vim and other editors that replace the file when saving are now picked up reliably.
• The toolbar now shows when Balance reloads your journal after an outside edit, and a banner stays up while a changed file can't be read.
• Pull down on a transaction list on iPhone or iPad to reload the journal from disk.
• On iPhone, the notice shown for a journal that uses include no longer covers the back button and the New Transaction button.
• A note, or an entry with a single zero posting, can now be edited and saved without adding a second posting.
• Entries inside a comment / end comment block are now left alone as text instead of being counted.
• An entry that leaves one amount blank now balances when it involves more than one currency.
• Amounts written with a comma as the decimal mark, like 1.240,50, are now read correctly, and an edited entry is written back the same way.

A release about not losing things: entries written on two devices at once, and a purchase that hadn't reached your other Mac or phone yet.

• If two devices both added entries while apart, Balance now merges them instead of keeping only one device's version.
• When a change can't be merged safely, your journal is left as it is and the other version is saved as a file beside it, with an alert saying so.
• Sharing a copy of your journal now sends a copy, so the share sheet can no longer offer to collaborate on the live file.
• An export that fails now says so under the Settings row, and the message clears as soon as a later export works.
• A purchase made on one device now unlocks your other devices on its own, without tapping Restore Purchases.
• The paywall and Settings now explain that the App Store, not Balance, is what asks for your Apple Account password.
• Text on the paywall wraps in full at every text size instead of being cut off mid-sentence.
